SYNOPSIS
Grease is a flashback to the fabulous fifties, the testosterone-filled T-Birds, the trend-setting Pink Ladies, and the on-off relationship of Danny and Sandy, made famous particularly by the 1978 film starring John Travolta and Olivia Newton-John.
Danny returns to Rydell High after a summer romance with Sandy, and the T Birds are keen to hear about it. Concealing the fact that he met a girl he really cared about, he leads them on. Meanwhile, Rizzo, the tough-talking leader of the Pink Ladies, joins with members, Frenchy, Marty, and Jan in meeting new girl, Sandy, the perfect Sandra Dee, girl-next-door type. They soon cotton on that Sandy was Danny's summer love, and “introduce” Danny to Sandy. Danny plays the "big deal" for his mates, rather than the tenderness he showed for Sandy in the summer. She is confused and hurt.
At Marty’s pyjama party Sandy tried to fit in with the Pink Ladies but gets ill when Frenchy tries to pierce her ears. Rizzo mocks Sandy and leaves secretly to see Kenickie, who is at the garage fixing up a wreck of a car into “Greased Lightning”. Sandy is still puzzled about Danny and decides to become a cheerleader. Danny is still in love with Sandy but doesn't quite know how to approach her.
At the school dance, attended by the whole school, except Sandy, Danny enters the Hand Jive dance contest, winning this with a loud mouthed Cha Cha from St Bernadettes, Unfortunately Sandy arrives to see them together and this is the final straw…or is it.
Meanwhile Frenchy has dropped out of school, and beauty school but hasn’t told the others, then Danny manages to borrow Kenickie’s “Greased Lightning” for another try at a date with Sandy, but he blows it again when he pushes it too far. At Jan’s party, Rizzo isn’t quite herself and confides in Marty she thinks she is pregnant, but this is soon broadcast to everyone, including Sandy, who uses the experience to rethink. She gets the girls to help her become a greaser’s dream girl and confronts Danny.
Danny is bowled over by her, Rizzo finds out she isn’t pregnant, and Frenchy is back at school – the whole gang is back together again and can rock and roll happily ever after.
